Why anamorphic? Big-budget Hollywood productions utilize anamorphic lenses to achieve the cinematic widescreen perspective. With a 16:9 sensor, this yields an aspect ratio of 2.4:1. Instead of cropping the image at the top and bottom, which results in resolution loss, anamorphic lenses distort the image towards the edges. Subsequently, during viewing or projection, a corresponding equalization occurs.

The Laowa Nanomorph lenses are the smallest anamorphic lenses for S35 cameras, featuring a constant compression factor of 1.5 at all focus points.
